Corvette ZR1 vs fighter jet - There's only one winner

Being raised in Detroit, the motor city, I got to see lots of classic vehicles for sale.  People would drive around in Trans Ams, Firebirds, Mustangs, and all those other American muscle automobiles.  The difficulty was that during the winter, Michigan uses many tons of salt to solve its ice issues.  This rots the cars, making them rust before their time.  The only model that I gained the most respect for was the car that never appeared to age the eternally youthful Corvette.  With a body made of fiberglass, even 1962 Corvettes for sale looked to be in mint condition.

From the time I was a teenager, it was my dream to have a Corvette for sale.  One of my friends was into Trans Am’s, but for me that wasn’t where it was at.  Corvettes were so cool.  They mixed the grunt of the American muscle cars with an exotic, sporty look.  Although the new Corvettes were cool, the old ones are my favorite.  I wasn’t a huge fan of used cars for sale generally, but old Corvettes, with their exaggerated sensuous curves, were dream machines to me.

Nevertheless, I didn’t have a lot of cash.  New cars For sale were out of the problem of course.  Even most classic Corvettes were beyond my.  I had to discover a cheap used automobile, or I wouldn’t have any auto.  I stayed away from the lots that specialised in Corvettes for sale.  Almost all of those were visited by connoisseurs, and that drove the price up.  Instead, I went to some standard used vehicle lots till I found it : a beat up but drivable 1973 Corvette.  I knew that it was not in good shape, and that it would take a large amount of work, but I was still ecstatic when I found it.  After all , there weren’t many Corvettes for sale within my price range.

One of the things that you have to realize when you buy Corvettes for sale is that the body almost always looks better than what’s going on within.  That isn’t to say Corvette don’t ware well they do.  The problem is simply that, barring a heavy crash, a fiberglass Corvette body will last forever.  If you actually need to know if the vehicle is in good condition, you’ve got to get under the hood.  When I did, I was decidedly unhappy.  It definitely needed a large amount of work.  Nevertheless, I knew some folks with experience in cars to show me everything I needed to know.  I took it to buy class, and worked on it after faculty.  Soon, I had one of the meanest machines on the road.

The Bikes, Cars & Boats Blog has loads of articles on assorted vehicles of all shapes and sizes including of course the Chevrolet Corvette.

The Classic Specification of Chevrolet Corvette

Friday, June 19th, 2009

The introduction of the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray heralded big changes in the march onward in the Chevrolet Stingray. The Sting Ray was available as both a “Roadster “version with a removable hardtop and a “Coupe” infrequently known as a fastback.

Onwards from 1963 to 1967 the Sting Ray got even better with a greater number of options for both luxury and power performance. This was the boom time of the days of sports automobile customizers. And the Corvette Sting Ray was the ideal a hundred p.c. raw material for the sports automobile customizers. Headlights were molded and in and the fenders were removed. So many Corvettes received an extra pair of taillights that people that they were really a General Motors Chevrolet Corvette factory option. Later when the low profile wide tires came along, so did large fender flares. The speed hardware industry had boomed, so the majority of Corvette engine parts were being replaced by the newest : Hot Setup”. Rochester fuel injectors were being removed due to service issues, and everyone heard the single four barrel in a high riser manifold was better. In 1965 the first Chevy big-block was introduced in the Corvette, and the performance was more than awesome.

Another new body style - both bigger and heavier was introduced in 1968. Many thought that this was the start of the decline of the Corvette, But in the vital performance dep., the 427 cubic inches Rat Motor with its three two-barrel carbs and the 435 pony power ratings more than powered the Corvette legend of lore. No letting down of the powerful picture of the ‘Vette.

Things got even better right on up to the 1969 L-88with aluminum cylinder heads the 1970 LS-6 rated at a mighty 465 horse power rating. The word Corvette invokes the image of high performance sports car performance. An older age group replaced the street racer cult as the primary patrons and purchasers of the Vette. More of the Corvettes were equipped with such luxury and comfort options as air conditioning, power steering and telescoping steering columns. It was not long before the Corvette with emission devices and shortly the real ‘Vette kind of performance was history.

What was more than engaging was the response original hot rodder modification group. The amazing part of all of this is the way the circle came round. Karma breaks in.

The same dedicated group of sport automobile fans and hot rodders, who modified the older, pre main line luxury comfort model Corvettes, is now the ones who revive this same converted Corvette back to actual stock specifications.

How could these people justify the work and effort of taking these cars back in time to factory specs when a great period of time, effort and cost had been invested in these extremely cars? A used Corvette at the time was essentially a very attractive sports vehicle buy.

Why were revive vehicles in style and even preferred over the earlier changed ones. Partly it definitely was a case of limited supply and extremely high prices being offered by the stock type Corvettes and classic auto auctions and the costs being asked in the special car groups and publications. All in all it may be said it can be a mix of the custom automobiles getting old and needing refurbishing and the 55 mile road limit in the time. Maybe as well it appeared to be a query of maturity on the youngsters who were the Corvette hot rodders at the time. See the influence of time, life and having a family with its change of concerns can have on the wildest kids.

Chevrolet Corvette A Sophisticated Design

Friday, June 19th, 2009

General Motors manufactures Chevrolet Corvette in their Kentucky assembly plant. This vehicle falls in the sports automobile class. Corvettes are either two doorway coupes or two door convertibles. Chevrolet Corvette is very similar to Dodge Snake and Ford GT.

Extremely powerful engines are one of the distinguishing features of this car. But though the engine packs power it’s not complex. An overhead valve together with a larger displacement, usage of leaf springs in suspension makes Chevrolet Corvette what it is.

Other automobiles in the similar class are made with a much more complex engine. The cars are in numerous colours like sunset orange, silver grey. there were many models of Chevrolet Corvette each better than the prior one.

Corvettes are very sophisticated cars, but they have a tiny history behind them. Corvette is a little fighting frigate and the car has taken its name from them. The naming has been done by a man called Myron Scott.

Though now General Motors turn out them in a very big way, the 1st vehicle built in Flint, Michigan was virtually hand made. From that first car the newest Chevrolet Corvette model exposed in the last quarter of 2005, as a model for 2006, has indeed come a good distance. General Motors have constantly strived to make the newer models a cut above the rest, but without any mind astounding complexities. In the niche market, Corvettes stand tall.

Owning a Chevrolet Corvette is a matter of pride. They are trendy and costly. Only a real vehicle connoisseur can truly appreciate the fantastic thing about a Corvette. Fuel usage is another attraction of a Corvette. The cars have become very popular especially with those that are rather brave and enjoy speed.

Dealers are able to guide the customer and Corvettes come with a thirty six month guaranty. There’s the benefit of insurance also. Corvettes offer a comfortable ride, but in comparison to other sports autos, there’s less agility because of a light steering and its width. The inside of the 2006 model is an improvement on the earlier models.

There is a giant market for used cars and with the arrival of internet buying and selling vehicles became straightforward and convenient. In fact getting the product details or information about new models is simple too. There are used vehicle dealers and the prospective seller can contact them. But getting attached to Chevrolet Corvette is so simple, few think of losing it.
